Pre-Launch Checklist

For HPR flights using electronic dual-deployment recovery. Covers altimeter setup through pad arming. Print and bring to every high-power launch.

01Day Before — Bench Prep

Fresh 9V batteries installed in both altimeters Altimeter programming verified — apogee + main altitude set Ground ejection test completed — both drogue and main charges fired Both sections separated cleanly under ground test pressure BP charges replaced after ground test with new measured charges Wiring inspected — no exposed conductors, no chafing on coupler edges

02Field — Rocket Assembly

Motor installed and retained — mechanical retention confirmed Drogue packed in aft section — Nomex protector in place Main chute packed in forward section — deployment bag or Nomex wrap All shock cords connected — swivels installed, no twists Shear pins installed per design spec — correct count and size GPS tracker installed and powered — signal confirmed on ground station

03RSO Inspection

Rocket presented to RSO for pre-flight inspection Stability margin reviewed and approved (min 1 caliber) Altimeter arming procedure explained to RSO RSO sign-off obtained — flight card filled out Assigned to launch rail and controller — pad assignment confirmed

04Pad — Arm & Launch

Rocket on rail — slides freely, no binding Igniter installed — seated properly in nozzle Electronics armed per altimeter sequence — both units confirmed armed Continuity confirmed on LCO box — green light for both pyros All personnel clear of pad — minimum 500 ft (H–I) or 1000 ft (J+) Airspace visually clear — countdown and launch

05Post-Flight

Both deployments observed — drogue at apogee, main at preset altitude GPS ground track monitored — landing location identified Rocket recovered — airframe, fin, nosecone inspected Altimeter data downloaded and reviewed Flight logged: motor, altitude, deployment altitudes, result
